My husband and I started playing back in December 2006 - we started off playing Alliance, no doubt like a lot of other "first timers", but pretty soon ended up with the ugliest undead we could find - him a warrior, myself a priest. We were still fairly low levels on these characters when we bumped into a character called Jaysham - we chatted, and ended up joining our very first guild - All for One. There we encountered new people, had fun and learned a lot.

Unfortunately that guild broke up within a month or so of us joining, therefore Jaysham persuaded us and several others to start another guild - Dark Wolves.

The guild was set up back in April 2007 - it started off with a core membership, some of whom are still in the guild today. Some months later, Jaysham stopped playing and somehow the Guild Leadership passed to me. We still continued on with the ideal that we had started though - that we were there to have fun, not get stressed or encounter drama, and to learn how to play various aspects of the game as well as we could.

As our characters gained levels, the guild gained more members until, about a year later, we were starting to consider the possibility of raiding. At around the same time, we bumped into a couple levelling their characters in the same areas as myself and Kad, got chatting, and discovered their guild was in a similar position.

Not long after, an alliance formed between Dark Wolves and Hordecore. Between us, we were able to produce 10 man teams to raid Karazhan - for many of us our first raiding experience.

We remained in the guild alliance with Hordecore (who later changed their name to Shadow Council) for a considerable length of time - until around September 2009, when Shadow Council left to merge with another guild.

Very shortly after, Dark Wolves started running 10 man raids completely in-guild. We have since moved websites several times, run many different raids, encountered new expansion packs and travelled up the guild levels to attain the highest, level 25, before they were discontinued - we have always remained the same guild, with many members becoming friends and sticking around for years.

The guild has of course experienced its ups and downs, but on the whole has generally been "on the up". Back when we started raiding Karazhan, we were many raid levels behind the "proper" raiding guilds - we closed the gap a little during the Wrath raids and we are now much closer to those "serious" raiders.

We still have a way to go, and I would never expect us to be at the forefront of raiding - our ethos is to have fun without getting stressed, without drama, yet still being able to progress. This has worked well for us, for many years now and, as the old phrase goes, "if it aint broke, don't fix it".

We have also encountered our share of drama - from childish "pranks" that were only funny to the people who instigated them, to attempts to break up the guild. We have endured our share of attempted poaching, foot stomping and dummy spitting. We have lived it, we have shrugged it off and we have learned from it. Which is what life (either real or online) is all about. We do our best, we're aware that we're not THE best, but we're happy giving it a go.

At the end of the day, Dark Wolves is a guild of people. Real people with real feelings and real lives. They ARE Dark Wolves and it could not exist as it does today, without them. We are all part of a team - be it a team running raids, dungeons, battlegrounds, arenas or simply being in guild chat - we are all contributing to that unique guild that is Dark Wolves.
